Jerry Lancaster, Head Band Director 2017

Jerald S. Lancaster (also known as Jerry) is currently the director of Bands at Bethel High School in Hampton VA.  He has been teaching band in Hampton City Schools for 20 years. For 12 years he was the Band Director at Spratley Middle School.  In 2009 Jerry transferred to Bethel High School.  Since the transfer the Bethel Band program has become a 3 time VA Honor Band (the highest recognition a high school band can get in the state of Virginia).   The Bethel High School MIGHTY Marching Bruins have become known for their field show/parade/and “stand tune” performances.  The Bethel Drum Line has become a championship “block style” drum line, competing and doing exhibitions all over the DC/VA/NC area.

Jerry attended Christopher Newport University, where he received his Bachelor’s of Music degree with an emphasis on Music Education and Tuba performance.  While at CNU Jerry founded the CNU Pep Band club, playing for the schools’ basketball games, their main athletic team at the time.

Jerry is a member of the National Association for Music Education, The Virginia Music Education Association, The Virginia Band and Orchestra Director’s Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia National Men’s Music Fraternity.
