Wilson's baseball coaching resume includes 417 wins at First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach before he retired in 2004. During Wilson’s tenure as head coach, First Colonial won 14 district championships, seven Eastern Regional championships, and a Virginia AAA state championship in 1993.

His 1993 state championship team was ranked sixth in the nation by USA Today, and its record of 28-0 remains one of the best in the history of the Virginia High School League.

From 2009 to 2011, Coach Wilson returned to baseball as head coach for The College of The Albemarle, a two-year community college in Elizabeth City, NC, where he helped to re-start their first baseball program since 1978. In his two years at COA, Wilson’s team had 46 wins and back-to-back trips to the regional playoffs. Most recently, Wilson has served as an Associate Scout with the Kansas City Royals and as an assistant baseball coach at Norfolk Academy in Norfolk, VA.
