Slow Start Costs Bobcats in 71–59 Road Loss at Central Carolina
The Bryant & Stratton College (VA) Bobcats couldn't overcome a cold shooting night, falling 71–59 on the road to the Central Carolina Community College Cougars. The Bobcats struggled early, scoring just 16 points in the first half while shooting under 30% from the field. Despite a strong 43-point surge in the second half, the early deficit proved too much to erase as Central Carolina maintained control with efficient scoring and key defensive stops.
The Cougars balanced attack made the difference, led by Jeremiah Henson's 20 points off the bench and Ma'Kyi Butler's 18-point, 7-rebound performance. The Cougars shot an impressive 46.5% from the field and a blistering 7-of-11 from three. Their dominance on the boards (47–42) and ability to get to the free-throw line—35 attempts—helped them keep the Bobcats at arm's length throughout the night.
The bright spot for Bryant & Stratton was Elijah Mendoza, who delivered a dominant 17-point, 16-rebound double-double to keep the Bobcats competitive in the second half. Jalen Milt added 19 points, but the team finished just 3-of-22 from three and 14-of-27 at the line, limiting their comeback chances. Despite the late push, the Bobcats couldn't overcome the slow start and dropped to 4–3 on the season.
